Fireplace Safety Tips
• Keep the area around your fireplace clear of debris, decorations, and other flammable items.
• Make sure children are supervised by an adult around the fireplace.
• Use a metal, mesh fireplace screen.
• Leave glass doors open while burning a fire to allow proper draught and cleaner burning.
• Only burn firewood or firelogs. Never burn garbage, newspaper, magazines, etc.
• Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and periodically test smoke detectors to make sure they are in good working condition.
• Never leave a fire unattended. Make sure flames are fully extinguished before going to bed or leaving your home.
